King’s hit wins it for Burlington Central
A double from senior Lauren King in the top of the seventh inning drove in the game-winning run as the Burlington Central softball team defeated Richmond-Burton 2-1 Tuesday in a Big Northern East matchup at Richmond.
Bekah Harnish had 3 hits including a double for BC (16-1, 8-0), which won its 13th straight.
Freshman Emily Kisch (5-0) struck out 10, walked 1 and allowed just 3 hits to earn the win.
Rebecca Gerke also added a double and an RBI for Central.
Bartlett 15, Batavia 5: In the completion of a game suspended by rain earlier this month with Batavia leading 5-1 after two innings, the Hawks came out and scored once in the third, 7 times in the fourth and 6 more in the sixth to end the Upstate Eight Valley game. The win catapulted Bartlett (17-6, 8-2) into a first-place tie with South Elgin in the Valley. Alex Morales had 2 doubles and Alyssa Nowak and Dana Paul one each for the Hawks in the win. Holly Pagan was the winning pitcher, striking out 8, walking 4 and allowing just 2 hits.
Streamwood 11, Larkin 1: Holly Foret was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 6 RBI while Brittany Delao (3-for-4, 2B) and winning pitcher Kaitlyn Hedger (3-for-3) each hit solo home runs to lead the Sabres to an Upstate Eight River win. Alexis Ciengi added an RBI for Streamwood (5-12, 2-7). Hedger struck out 7, walked 2 and allowed 4 hits in earning the win.
Huntley 2, CL South 1: Randi Peterson drove in the game-winning run in the top of the eighth inning as the Red Raiders outlasted the Gators in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division action. Jessica Shields was 3-for-4 with a double for Huntley (14-6, 2-4) and winning pitcher Haley Spannraft also went 3-for-4. Erin Yazel was 2-for-3 with a double for Crystal Lake South (10-5, 2-4), which played its third straight 2-1 game. Hailee Massie took the loss for the Gators, striking out 9 and walking 1 but allowing 10 hits.
St. Charles North 3, Elgin 0: The Maroons (9-8, 3-6) managed just 3 hits off the North Stars’ Sabrina Rabin in the UEC River. Jennah Perryman took the loss for Elgin, striking out 3 and walking 2 while allowing 7 hits.
McHenry 9, Jacobs 3: Jacquelyn Hengler went 2-for-4 with a double for Jacobs in the FVC Valley. Kelsey Peters was the losing pitcher for the Golden Eagles (9-8, 2-3).
Alden-Hebron 11, Westminster Christian 0: Rachel Rich took the loss for the Warriors (7-6, 5-2) in the Northeast Athletic Conference.
Prairie Ridge 9, Dundee-Crown 1: Losing pitcher Amanda Eissler went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Chargers in the FVC Valley. Lauren Mercado and Lauren Girard were each 2-for-3 for Dundee-Crown (3-9, 0-5).
