Wheeling-based, which offers discounts at large and small suburban businesses, has updated its website featuring about 400 businesses and offers a new lifetime membership for consumers.

The EZSave card looks like a credit card but it's used to get discounts every time a consumer visits the EZSave website and its participating businesses, such as Abt Electronics in Glenview, Biggby Coffee in Arlington Heights, Continental Restaurant in Buffalo Grove, and Medieval Times in Schaumburg, said President Bob Rycraft.

"Unlike Groupon, EZSave is something that builds loyalty," Rycraft said.

So it's not a one-time use card. Annual membership is $10 and lifetime membership is $25. The businesses, which advertise on the site, also pay a fee, which all supports the EZSave network, Rycraft said.

Since the start of EZSave in 2010, about 30,000 cards have been issued, Rycraft said.

The company has 2 other employees and the sales staff is expected to expand later this year, he said.

Rycraft said he started the business because he knew that business owners were looking for an inexpensive and long-term solution to reach and retain customers. Coupons were good to get those customers in the door, but didn't always bring them back.

While the business has updated its website, it plans to make it for members only starting next month, he said.

"Our deals are every day and our members can go every day," he said.
