College of DuPage Library Opens Upper Level and New Entrance, Closes Main Level

The upper level of the College of DuPage Library is reopening on Friday, April 26, as the main level closes for renovations.

A new entrance to the upper level will function as the Library's main entrance during the second phase of renovation, which is scheduled to be completed in January. The new entrance is located on the south side of the Student Resource Center on the third floor, where the SRC and the Berg Instructional Center meet.

“We are very excited about the first phase of renovation being completed,” said Lisa Stock, Dean of Learning Resources. “We thank everyone for their patience, and the end result will be a space that will meet the needs of current and future users.”

Renovations to the Library include upgrading technology, improving study areas for both individual and group work, reconfiguring the Reference Desk, and adding a new Circulation Desk.

The work, which began last August, has been divided into two phases in order to keep the Library open throughout construction. The Library's general collection, which was relocated during Phase 1 to the Open Campus Center, has returned to the upper level of the Library.

During Phase 2, collections and services from the lower level are moving to the upper level, including reference, periodicals, reserves, newspapers, popular DVDs and VHS tapes, new books, juvenile, the Philanthropy Collection, graphic novels and trade paperbacks.
