Suburban teens among finalists for musical theater awards

Eight suburban high school actors are among the 24 finalists for the 2013 Illinois High School Musical Theater Awards, and will audition Monday in front of some of Chicago’s top theater professionals at Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place, 175 E. Chestnut St.

From the finalists, one actor and one actress will be chosen to represent Illinois in the finals in New York, June 26-July 1.

Finalists are Joe Cavaiani of Arlington Heights and Buffalo Grove High School; Claudia Dockery, Naperville, Benet Academy; Molly Hernandez, Glen Ellyn, Glenbard West High School; Alex Levy, Buffalo Grove, Adlai E. Stevenson High School; Franco Longobardi, Arlington Heights, Prospect High School; Andrea Schumann, Lake Barrington, Barrington High School; Taylor Marie Sherry, St. Charles, St. Charles North High School; and Marianna Veneri, Niles, Maine East High School.
