Creative Puppetry for Early Childhood Educators

A professional development class designed to give the early childhood education professional the confidence and skills to perform puppetry for and with children ages 3-6. Participants will learn professional techniques in hand and object puppetry performance. Topics of study include character voices, lip sync, eye focus, movement, and posture. Participants will leave the class with the manipulation techniques necessary to perform for children, directions on how to make a simple puppet and stage, and three activities to do with children and puppets. Workshop is conducted by Kat Pleviak, Artistic Director of Sea Beast Puppet Company in Chicago. Certificate for two training hours for DCFS required in-service will be provided, however registration is open to all interested adults.

Creative Puppetry is Tuesday, May 7, 6:30-8:30 pm, at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, 110 W. Fremont. Fee is $22; preregistration is required, program #1373-4 online at ahpd.org or in person at any park district registration office. For more information, call the museum at 847-255-1225.
