East Dundee cop now accused of domestic battery

An East Dundee police sergeant already facing a felony weapons charge is now accused of domestic battery, police said. Sgt. Michael Seyller, 39, who is on paid administrative leave from the department, was charged Wednesday with hitting a woman he knows, Carpentersville Cmdr. Timothy Bosshart said. His bail was set Wednesday morning at $100,000. Full story.

Wisconsin man sues ex-Schaumburg officers

A Beloit, Wis., man has filed a lawsuit in Cook County against the village of Schaumburg and two former undercover police officers who he says arrested him falsely, planted drugs and paraphernalia on him, withheld evidence from his attorneys and violated his constitutional rights. Full story.

Kane Co. shooting range could be hard sell

A new shooting range for Kane County sheriff’s deputies will probably cost about $900,000, but confirmation of that estimate — and getting an idea of what the building will look like — will definitely cost $67,000. Both those prices may be a hard sell unless the county can get other local police departments on board to share the cost. Full story.

Geneva mourns loss of school counselor

Charles “Chic” Williams had a profound effect on Geneva schoolchildren, as a teacher, coach, dean and counselor. “I can’t tell you the number of people I’ve run into over the last 20 years who said, ‘Chic turned my kid around,’ “ Geneva school board member Mary Stith said. Bartlett girl remembered as talented, popular

Jillian Zaguirre, a sixth grader at Elgin Area School District U-46’s Centennial Elementary School, died Saturday afternoon from complications following the flu. The 11-year-old Bartlett girl was a budding performer and an involved, popular member of her community. Just last month Jillian and her mom won medals in a newly created division of the Bartlett Park District’s version of “American Idol.” Full story.

East Golf Road is closed between North River Rd and South East River Road in Des Plains due to flooding, as is Grand Ave between Thatcher Road and River Road in River Grove. People should seek alternate routes. Full story.

Hawks win Presidents’ Trophy

The Blackhawks completed one last piece of business Wednesday night by winning their second Presidents’ Trophy. The Hawks (35-6-5) accomplished their mission of taking the NHL’s overall points title by beating Edmonton 4-1 at Rexall Place. Full story.

Bulls prepare for Game 3 tonight

Daily Herald sports writer Mike McGraw says calling Thursday’s Game 3 the most pivotal point in the Bulls-Brooklyn playoff series would be premature.
