Santanna Energy Services marks 25 years

Bolingbrook-based Santanna Energy Services, an Austin, Texas-based privately held independent energy marketing company, is gearing up for its quadranscentennial celebration on May 1.

The company also has offices in Bolingbrook, Southfield, Mich. and Cincinnati, Ohio.

Twenty-five years is a rarity that most independent companies in the alternative energy industry don’t get to celebrate, especially under the original company name and management, the company said in a statement, but Santanna Energy Services has been committed to remaining independent and its staff, management and stock holders will celebrate that milestone May 1.

SES has “125,000 and growing” customer base throughout Illinois, Michigan Ohio and Indiana.

“Santanna has had several opportunities to sell all or a part of the company, which would have made significant investment capital available to accelerate the growth,” said Doug Cueller, Santanna’s chief marketing officer. “However, the decision was made each time to maintain the company’s independent nature, which would allow the stock holders and management to be selective with our own internally generated resources, make better choices, and to grow within our means”

Wayne Gatlin, Santanna’s president and CEO, once said in an interview “Santanna was originally formed as a means for some folks who have been rolling around in the energy business to get out of Corporate America and into an entrepreneurial atmosphere where we could call the shots rather than having them called by someone else.”

Twenty-five years later, that sure fire entrepreneurial spirit still guides the company’s focus.

Santanna prides itself in providing customers with Premium Service and Competitive Prices for the past 25 years; this is what has driven Santanna entered into the electric market in Illinois in January as a retail electric supplier, giving Illinois residential customers the opportunity to choose an additional product and service. Santanna continues to expand by identifying additional markets for its sales channels to provide Santanna products and services for commercial, industrial and residential customers, the company said in a release.
