Woman accidentally runs over husband in driveway
Police in South suburban Oak Lawn say a woman has accidentally run over her husband in their driveway, killing the man.
Oak Lawn police said in a statement that the man had just gotten out of the car to open a driveway gate when the woman backed the car up, pinning him under the car.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the man as 70-year-old James Wojciechowski.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the woman called 911 to report she accidentally hit her husband.
Police say she told investigators she thought her husband was clear of the car when she began to back up.
Police say they are treating the death as a tragic accident and no charges are expected.
