Memorial scheduled for Netsch in Chicago

CHICAGO — Northwestern University's School of Law will host a memorial for late former Illinois comptroller Dawn Clark Netsch.

The memorial is planned for Saturday afternoon at the school's campus in downtown Chicago. Netsch died March 5 after a battle with the degenerative disorder ALS.

Netsch was considered a pioneer of Illinois politics. She was a longtime state senator and the first woman to get the Democratic nomination for governor in Illinois. She joined the Northwestern law faculty in 1965.

Netsch's service is open to the public. A reception is scheduled afterward.
