‘Flying 4 Kids’ month celebration comes to Cary Saturday

Submitted by Cary Park District

Keep your eyes to the skies on Saturday, April 13, as the Cary Park District is hosting a fun, family-oriented kite fly as part of the Illinois Association of Park Districts’ statewide “Flying 4 Kids” month celebration.

The goal of “Flying for Kids” is to raise awareness of the Park District Youth License Plate, which features a colorful kite. Twenty-five dollars from the sale and subsequent renewals of each plate is placed into the IAPD Power Play Grant Program, a special grant fund to benefit beyond-school programming for youth at park districts and recreation agencies throughout Illinois.

Visitors should bring their own kites and are encouraged to participate in a kite fly competition or fly kites on their own.

The kite fly will be held at Lions Park from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13. This event is free. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

For more information about the Kite Fly, contact the Cary Park District at (847) 639-6100 or visit carypark.com.

For more information about the Park District Youth License Plate, or to place an order, call the Illinois State’s office at (217) 782-7758. Vanity and personalized plates are available. Request forms can be accessed at cyberdriveillinois.com or ILparks.org.
