Heritage Farm at Spring Valley to host new dinner theater program May 18

Experience an authentic turn-of-the-century German-American farm wedding party.

Schaumburg Park District will hold Fred and Mina's Wedding and Barn Dance from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., May 18 at Volkening Heritage Farm at Spring Valley, 201 S. Plum Grove Road. Wedding guests will be transported by wagon back in time at this new event recreated by a company of local actors.

“This new dinner theater program will be fun, entertaining and educational for guests,” said Dave Brooks, manager of conservation services. “They will have an unforgettable experience at the living history farm.”

Guests will cheer the arrival of the newly married couple and enjoy a sumptuous family-style German feast of pork, sauerkraut, sausage and schnitzel. After many toasts to the bride and groom, wedding guests will listen and dance to live music. Various dramas will also occur over the course of the evening.

Reservations are required. This event is only for ages 21 and older. Limited space is available. Cost is $40 by April 26. The cost for reservations made between April 27 and May 10 is $45. All guests will receive two beverage coupons which may be redeemed for beer, wine or soft drinks. Additional drinks may be purchased. Reservations are available at parkfun.com and District registration facilities.
