Wisconsin bishop held in fatal pedestrian crash

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Police say a Lutheran bishop was intoxicated when he struck and killed a pedestrian in Sun Prairie.

The 52-year-old victim was hit on the northbound off-ramp of Highway 151 Sunday afternoon. The woman was taken to St. Mary's in Sun Prairie where she later died. She was not been identified.

Sun Prairie Police Lt. Linda Anderson tells the State Journal the suspect was found by police in his vehicle near the crash scene. He was taken to the Dane County Jail. Church officials say the man is a bishop in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
