Church should keep houses, save money

I have heard that The Orchard Evangelical Free Church is planning to demolish eight beautiful homes to expand their parking lot for no reason as there is no neighborhood parking problem.

This would be devastating to the neighborhood and scary for all Arlington Heights residents as it sets a terrible precident for neighbors of the other churches in town. According to professional market estimates, those eight homes could be sold for about $3 million! Add to that the $1 million they expect to spend to turn it into an asphalt parking lot.

I feel confident that the Church could put $4 million to better use to fulfill their mission than to build an unnecessary parking lot. If the Church leaders are embarrassed that those properties were purchased at a much higher price several years ago, forgive yourself, lots of good folks did. Sell the homes and be good to thy neighbor!
