Newborn dies after being found in South suburban restaurant

CALUMET CITY — A newborn baby died after she was discovered in the bathroom of a South suburban Chicago fast food restaurant.

The girl was found Thursday in a Calumet City Popeyes and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

WGN-TV reported Friday that the newborn, who appears to have been full-term, was wrapped in a towel.

The station says investigators believe the girl's mother gave birth in the restroom. She could face potential charges.

Police weren't releasing more information on Friday, but say no arrests have made.
