‘One Destiny’ takes stage at Lincoln Museum

SPRINGFIELD — A play about an actor and a house manager at Ford’s Theater the night Abraham Lincoln was shot will be staged this month in Springfield.

“One Destiny” will run April 13-15 at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

It’s a 40-minute play that takes place on the night of April 14, 1865. The 16th president was at Ford’s Theater that night and died from a gunshot to the head.

The play opened in 2007 at the historic theater in Washington, D.C. and is still performed there.

On April 25-26, musician and composer Larry Kirwan will perform a show of Stephen Foster music at the museum and re-create the feel of the notorious Five Points slum in New York City during the Civil War.
