Warrenville needs to elect this survivor

Warrenville has an excellent opportunity Tuesday to elect a person to the city council with Vision, drive, and the will to succeed. That person is Tom Linford.

I have known Mr. Linford for the past 15 years and admire him greatly. Tom is a Vietnam veteran with two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart — shrapnel in his throat. He is now a five-year survivor of a life threatening bout with throat cancer. This man is a survivor.

As Ward 4’s next Alderman, Tom Linford will work hard to improve our ward and city. He has knocked on every accessible residence in Ward 4 and has spoken to hundreds of Warrenville citizens to discuss their insights and concerns. No one likes the increased taxes the city is imposing on us all May 1 in regard to the electric and gas utility taxes. No one is happy to see the added gasoline tax starting May 1 either.

Where is the transparency at city hall? If we are debt free, why the additional taxes? Why are the businesses leaving Cantera in droves? Where are the new businesses replacing those leaving? Why is Route 59 lined with empty parcels of land? Where is any communication from the current Ward 4 alderman?

It is time Warrenville becomes a leading community in DuPage County.
