Fire in unincorporated Deerfield injures one

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of a fire that engulfed a townhouse Wednesday night in unincorporated Deerfield.

Deputy Chief Tony Ugaste of the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Department said crews were called to 884 Swan Blvd. near Lincolnshire at 8:04 p.m. Upon arrival, they found heavy fire at one unit of a row of eight townhouses, he said.

Ugaste said everyone evacuated the building before crews arrived, but one resident was injured and sent to a hospital. He did not know the extent of their injuries or where they were sent.

The fire damaged most of the first floor and some of the second floor of the unit, according to Ugaste. He did not have an estimate for the cost of damages.
