Vote for backers of Ride DuPage

Ride DuPage Paratransit, a vital transportation service for people with disabilities and the elderly, is potentially being threatened. I would like to share with you a summary of a statement that my daughter, Erika, presented to the Wheatland Township board of trustees on Dec. 8, 2011.

“My name is Erika Kissel. I am a graduate of District 204. I live in the city of Naperville. I am a person with Down syndrome and am hearing impaired. I have been a consumer of Pace Paratransit services since 2002. I rely on Ride DuPage to take me to work five days a week. I am very proud to work in my community, to contribute and be a taxpaying citizen. I also use Ride DuPage for volunteer jobs that I go to, as well as when I have taken College of DuPage classes.

“Ride DuPage Paratransit has a long history. It is finally a safe and reliable service. This service makes a big difference in my life and in the lives of individuals with disabilities and the elderly. Without reliable, safe transportation we would not be able to go to work, to our recreation, our appointments or volunteer jobs. We would lead a life that is very isolated.”

I would like to ask the citizens to vote for candidates who support Ride DuPage Paratransit Services.
