One injured in West Chicago shooting

Police are investigating a shooting late Monday on the 300 block of Barber Street in West Chicago, authorities said Tuesday.

Officers responded about 9:25 p.m. for a report of gunfire. A male victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, authorities said.

“The victim appears to have been targeted and no additional threat to public safety is believed to exist at this time,” officials said in a news release.

Mayor Ruben Pineda said no arrests have been made but police are working the case diligently.

“Our police department was right on top of this issue and they’re investigating it,” he said.

He said he had no further details.

Police said they did not expect to release additional information Tuesday.
