AAUW $500 STEM Scholarship Offerings

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) provides educational funding for girls interested in science, technology, engineering, and math via the STEM scholarship. The Waukegan Area Branch of AAUW is offering two STEM scholarships, each in the amount of $500, for the 2013-2014 academic year.

OFFICIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Female student, U.S. citizen, scheduled to graduate from high school in spring 2013 from one of the following Lake County, Illinois, high schools, to wit: Antioch High School, Dist 117; Grayslake Central High School, Dist 127; Grayslake North High School, Dist 127; Lake Forest High School, Dist 115; Lakes Community High School, Dist 117; Libertyville High School, Dist 128; Mundelein High School, Dist 120; North Chicago High School, Dist 187; Vernon Hills High School, Dist 128; Warren Township High School, Dist 121; Waukegan High School, Dist 60; and Zion-Benton Township High School, Dist 126.

In addition to the above, the established requirements include the following: applicant's submission of a typed and signed personal statement about herself, her goals, and what future contributions she intends to make to her community, dated within 30 days of application submission; at least one written teacher recommendation on her behalf, signed and dated within 30 days of application submission; submission of an official high school seven semester transcript which includes class rank (if available) and accumulated GPA; and completion and timely submission of the Waukegan Area Branch AAUW scholarship application. There is no cost to apply. The application must be postmarked not later than April 5, 2013.

The Waukegan Area Branch AAUW scholarship application may be obtained through the guidance or scholarship counselors at the high schools listed. Forms have been available at the high schools since February. Requests for the application may also be directed to ZARI at wabaauw@gmail.com.
