Burke commits to Michigan State

Conant boys swimming standout Jonathon Burke has committed to a future in swimming at Michigan State.

Burke, who finished third in the 500-yard freestyle in the boys swimming state meet in February and fifth in the same race the previous year, was a champion in multiple events and multiple years at both the conference and sectional meet level.

He established team records at Conant in both the 200- and 500-yard freestyles.

At Michigan State, Burke will be joining a pair of recent standouts from the Mid-Suburban League. Buffalo Grove’s Ian Rodriguez and Palatine’s Nicole Huffman are both currently swimming for the Spartans.

In the Big Ten championships in March, the Michigan State men’s program placed 10th. Senior Jacob Jarzen represented the Spartans in the NCAA championships last weekend in Indianapolis, Ind.
