Baseball/Fox Valley roundup

The Jacobs baseball team scored 7 runs in the first three innings Monday and cruised to a 10-4 win at Palatine.

A solo home run from Connor Conzelman, an RBI single by Aaron Traub, a 2-run double from Ben Murray and an RBI single from Greg Sidor led the way for the Golden Eagles (3-0).

Murray was 3-for-4, while Grant Kale went 2-for-5 with 3 RBI. Aaron Meciej (2-for-3) and Jon Berndt (2-for-4, 2 RBI) also contributed.

Tim Hubner got the win for Jacobs, going 6 innings and allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs with 5 strikeouts and 3 walks.

St. Edward 16, IC 7: St. Edward rapped out 15 hits, including 2 triples resulting in 4 RBI for Tighe Koehring in this Suburban Christian win. Michael Castoro (2-for-4, 3B), Jake LaFrenz (2-for-4, RBI), Jacob Koehring (RBI), Jack Tierney (2B, 2 RBI), Ryan Nudd (2-for-3, 2B), Tyler Tamaka (RBI), Antonio Domel (2-for-4, 2 RBI). Sean McShane (RBI), Matt Calusno (RBI) and Kyle Morawski (RBI) all contributed for the Green Wave. Jacob Koehring went 6 innings, allowing just 1 earned run on 5 hits with 10 strikeouts and 3 walks to earn the win.

Huntley 17, Boylan 1: Huntley scored 10 runs in the fourth inning on its way to this easy nonconference win. The Red Raiders (4-0) hit 4 home runs in the game as Tommy Kiriakopolus (2-for-3, 2B), Colin Lyman, Matt Sullivan (3-for-4, 3 RBI) and Kameron Sallee (3 RBI) all went yard. Mark Skonieczny (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI) and Nick Cusumano (2B) also contributed. Starter Eric Luecht pitched 3 innings to earn the win in the five-inning game.

Cary-Grove 13, Lake Zurich 10: Brandon McCumber was 4-for-5 with a double and 3 RBI as the Trojans scored 4 runs in the final two innings to win this nonconference game. Jeremy Vasquez (2-for-4, RBI), Zach Marszal (2-for-4, RBI), Daniel Vilardo (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) and Dean Lee (2 RBI) also pitched in for Cary-Grove (4-1). Patrick Serowka picked up the win and Andrew Splitt the save for the Trojans.

Schaumburg 9, Dundee-Crown 2: Dylan Kissack had 2 doubles and Zach Girard added a double for D-C in this nonconference loss. Tyler Lewan took the loss for the Chargers (1-1).
