Spirit of Alumni Club lives on at Alumni Pub in Schaumburg

Schaumburg's former Alumni Club on Algonquin Road will always evoke great memories for Northwest suburban residents who spent any part of their 20s in the relatively carefree '90s.

Though the club ended its two-decade run at 871 E. Algonquin Road in 2010 and has now become Drink, Schaumburg-based Ala Carte Entertainment which still owns the building plans to resurrect some of the spirit of the original in a new location.

Sometime this spring, the company plans to open the new Alumni Pub on the former site of Chicago City Limits at 1712 Wise Road.

Other than the addition of a small dance floor, there will be minimal changes to Chicago City Limits' floor plan, Schaumburg Community Development Director Julie Fitzgerald said.

According to the new facility's entertainment license, there will be live bands, karaoke, DJs and a weekly trivia night on Mondays.

An exact opening date has not yet been confirmed, and Ala Carte Entertainment officials could not be reached for comment on their latest enterprise.
