Palatine man accused of breaking developmentally disabled girl’s leg

A Cook County judge set bail at $150,000 Wednesday for a Palatine man charged with aggravated battery to a child, court clerk’s records show.

Javier Rosales, 35, of the 1900 block of Green Lane must post $15,000 to be released from custody.

Palatine police said Rosales was caring for a 13-year-old girl with developmental disabilities and admitted to kicking her leg, breaking her femur.

The girl’s mother, who was at work when the battery took place March 6, brought her daughter to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights the following day.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was notified and the child transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago.

Palatine police Tuesday took Rosales into custody. He next appears in court on April 12 in Rolling Meadows.

The girl is in DCFS custody pending the outcome of its investigation, police said.
