Cary-Grove opens with win over Warren

Cary-Grove opened the baseball season Tuesday with a 6-2 win over Warren at Rent One Ballpark in downstate Marion.

Brandon McCumber threw 5 strong innings for the Trojans, allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. Patrick Swerowka finished, going 2 innings and allowing an unearned run with 2 strikeouts and 1 walk.

McCumber went 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and 2 RBI, while Dean Lee was 2-for-4 and Andrew Brierton 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI. The Trojans also stole 5 bases in the game.

C-G will play St. Charles North and Eldorado today in Marion.
