Elgin sweeps Addison Trail

The Elgin softball team made it four straight in The Dome at The Ballpark in Rosemont Tuesday, sweeping a doubleheader from Addison Trail, 11-0 and 16-6.

Junior Jennah Perryman tossed a 2-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts and no walks in the opener. Perryman now has 37 strikeouts in 15 innings this week.

Perryman also smacked a 2-run home run in the win for the Maroons, while Monica Stockman (3-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI), Caroline Sobeski (2-for-2, 2B, RBI), Bri Wright (2-for-4) and Sabrina Stockman (2 RBI) also contributed.

In Game 2, Anna Eckholm went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI for the Maroons, as well as picking up the win in the circle. Sophomore Sabrina Stockman started the game and went 1 1/3 innings, then Eckholm went 2 2/3, not allowing a hit while striking out 3 and walking 4. Freshman Jessica Rago pitched the final 2 innings, allowing 2 hits with 1 strikeout.

Rago (2-for-2, 2B, RBI), Perryman (2-for-3, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI), Kelly Bremer (2-for-3, 2B, RBI) and Wright (3-for-4, 2B, 3B, RBI) led the Elgin offense.

The Maroons are next scheduled to play their first outdoor game on Monday at Burlington Central.

“Hopefully we’ll get it in and see a good team and some good pitching,” said Elgin coach Chad Dahlman.

Schedule update: Burlington Central’s doubleheader at Bloomington Central Catholic Thursday has been postponed. The Rockets’ trip to Edwardsville on Friday was still on as of Tuesday night, and they will now play at Bloomington CC on Saturday at 12 p.m., with a game against Tremont at BCC at 2 p.m.

Jacobs coach Jeremy Bauer said Tuesday he’s hoping to possibly play Larkin at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Jacobs and that if drying conditions are favorable, the Jacobs quad scheduled for Saturday could be played. Antioch, Lincoln-Way Central and Hoffman Estates.
