Trout fishing begins April 6 at Banana Lake

The rainbow trout fishing season opens Saturday, April 6, at Banana Lake in the Lakewood Forest Preserve near Wauconda. An estimated 600 pounds of trout will be released in the lake. Fishing at any Lake County forest preserve is free. Anglers ages 16 and older must have Illinois fishing licenses. Trout fishermen also must have Illinois inland trout stamps. Proceeds from the sale of the stamps help fund the stocking program. For more information, call (847) 367-6640.
