Order your roses now from Elgin Lions Club

Submitted by Elgin Lions Club

Members of the Elgin Lions Club are conducting their 29th annual Rose Day. They will be selling one dozen long-stemmed roses for $15 between now and Wednesday, March 27 for delivery on April 3-5.

Club members also will be selling roses at Elgin train stations during this time. This is a major fundraising event that began in 1984, and was so well received that it is now an annual affair.

The roses can be ordered from any club member, or an order can be placed by calling (847) 289-4206. A Lions Club member will return your call to take the information needed for the delivery and to make arrangements for payment.

Arrangements also have been made with Ziegler’s Ace Hardware, 215 N Spring St. in Elgin, to assist the club by having order forms and a secure container to leave the order forms and payment. In addition, orders can be made by emailing batesed@cod.edu.

The roses are flown here shortly before delivery and will be delivered around the Elgin area by members of the Lions Club and other people eager to help out the less fortunate in the community.

People who received them in the past have been impressed by their quality. They compare favorably with roses costing five times as much.

Proceeds from the sale will be used to further the charitable works of the Elgin Lions Club. The club provides eye care for persons in the community, especially students of Elgin Area School District U-46, and others who need it but have difficulty affording it.

The club also participates and donates money to other worthy charitable causes. Nearly all of the money collected by the various fundraisers of the Elgin Lions Club remains in the Elgin area for the benefit of local people, and the money that goes to Lions International and the Lions of Illinois Foundation is used to help needy people around the world.

The Elgin Lions Club has been doing good works for citizens of the Elgin area since 1921, and is grateful for the fine support provided by the community. The club will celebrate 92 years of service this fall.
