Ebertfest lineup includes Jack Black, ‘Bernie’

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Jack Black and filmmaker Richard Linklater will headline this year’s Roger Ebert Film Festival in Champaign.

Black starred in Linklater’s “Bernie.” The film will be among the dozen features at the 15th annual Ebertfest. This year’s festival will be April 17-21 at the Virginia Theater in Champaign.

Ebert is a native of nearby Urbana and graduate of the University of Illinois.

The Sun-Times film critic has tried to highlight films he believes are overlooked at past festivals. This year he’ll use Terrence Malick’s “Days of Heaven” to open the festival.

Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton will also be at the festival to discuss her role in the 2008 film “Julia.”

Individual tickets go on sale April 1.
