Suburban spirit teams win at Illinois Drill Team Association state championships

Several suburban schools brought back trophies from the annual Illinois Drill Team Association competition held Saturday in Champaign. Here are where our local schools finished:

Miss IDTA competition: Lauren Slinskey, Bolingbrook High School, third; Danielle Debiase, St. Viator, eighth.

Hip Hop, AAA Division: Fenton High School came in first.

Pom, AAA Division: Hinsdale South won first place.

Pom/Dance AA Division: Fenton, third place; St Viator, fifth place.

Pom/Dance AAA Division: Rolling Meadows High School won this division; Maine East came in third.

Kick, AAA Division: Hinsdale South won; Maine East came in second.

Lyrical/Contemporary AA Division: St Viator finished third.

Lyrical/Contemporary AAA Division: Rolling Meadows came in fourth.

Step AAA Division: Wheaton North High School won; Waubonsie Valley came in second and Downers Grove North, third.

Tall Flag, AAA Division: Lake Zurich High School won, with St. Charles East in second.

Color guard, AAA Division: Glenbard West High School won; Lake Zurich was second.

Lyrical Flag, AAA Division: St. Charles East came in first.

Tall Flag Show, AAA Division: Naperville North was first.
