Bank robber strikes in Winfield

A man wearing a bulky black and gray scarf over most of his face robbed a bank Thursday morning in Winfield, authorities said.

The suspect entered the Fifth Third Bank branch at 1N111 County Farm Road about 11:50 a.m. and demanded money from a teller, according to the FBI.

No weapon was displayed or threatened and the suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect was described by witnesses as a 30- to 40-year-old white man with dark eyes standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a dark hat, dark coat and black gloves.
