Kurtis, Jacobson sign off — again — at Channel 2

Local TV news legends Bill Kurtis and Walter Jacobson signed off as anchors Thursday after returning to CBS 2 in Chicago a little more than two years ago, according to a news release from WBBM-TV Channel 2.

Thursday’s newscast included a video tribute to the pair, as well as good wishes from CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley and “Anchorman” star Will Ferrell, the release said.

The pair, who anchored the station’s top-rated 10 p.m. newscast from 1973 to 1982, returned in the 6 p.m. time slot in August 2010.

Kurtis and Jacobson handed off their anchor duties to Rob Johnson and Kate Sullivan, who currently also anchor at 5 and10 p.m.
