Elgin women's club plans luncheon program

The Elgin Woman's Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, with a luncheon and program at the Holiday Inn, 495 Airport Road, Elgin.

Hosted by the Education Department, the program will feature a presentation, titled “A Future of Sherman Update,” by Mary Martini, vice president of professional services for Sherman Health. Martini has worked at Sherman for the past 16 years and is currently responsible for the administrative oversight of the Sherman Immediate Care Centers, Pharmacy, Physician Services, Accreditation and Regulatory Affairs, Rehab Services, the Diabetes Center, Sleep Center, Marketing and Communications and Food and Nutrition Services.

Hostesses for the March meeting will be Phyllis Rudolph, education department chairman, and Diane Montgomery, club member.

Reservations should be made no later than Friday, March 1, by calling the club hotline at (847) 622-3614. Cost for the luncheon meeting and program is $20 and may be paid for by check the day of the meeting.

Since the club was founded in 1887, members have supported hundreds of local projects including yearly scholarships to students from area high schools. The club's major accomplishment was the founding of Sherman Hospital in 1888. In addition, members volunteer in hospitals and other agencies throughout the Elgin area and are active in recycling, conservation, women's health, international affairs and other projects.
