Wolves notch win No. 500

PEORIA — Right wing Darren Haydar's 3-point performance and goaltender Matt Climie's 38-save shutout led the Chicago Wolves to the franchise's 500th American Hockey League win — 3-0 over the Peoria Rivermen on Saturday night at Carver Arena.

The Wolves are the 22nd team in the AHL's 77-year history to equal the 500-victory milestone and they accomplished the feat faster than any team — needing 925 regular-season games.

Haydar, Andrew Ebbett and Devin DiDiomete scored for the Wolves (26-14-4-30), and Kevin Connauton earned 2 assists in the Illinois Lottery Cup win over the Rivermen (23-23-4-3).

After a pair of scoreless periods, the Wolves broke the tie when Haydar netted a wraparound goal past goalie Jake Allen 1:50 into the third period. Ebbett, who assisted on Haydar's goal, capitalized on an open net at 3:01.

Haydar and DiDiomete played give-and-go before DiDiomete's wrister beat Allen (31 saves) down low at 5:28.

The Wolves host the Rockford IceHogs today at 3 p.m. at Allstate Arena.
