Fremont students jump way to $20,000

Students at the Mundelein area's Fremont Intermediate School raised $20,514 for the American Heart Association this month as part of the school's annual Jump Rope for the Heart event.

The fundraising event aims to engage students through jumping rope while encouraging them to improve their health and to help peers with heart-related issues, officials said.

The amount raised this year is more than double the $10,063 students collected through the jump rope event last year.
