Yes-and-no answer on car insurance

Regarding Mr. Garber’s fence post question of Feb. 8: “Are people lying about car insurance?” My guess is yes and no. I think the answer is in Jesse White’s office.

The question to be answered is how long has an individual held their insurance. One day, one week, two weeks? It is very easy to purchase car insurance, show it to the state vehicle representative, receive the Illinois vehicle plates and then go and cancel the insurance.

Mr. White’s office should be aware of this and have all car insurance companies inform the state of Illinois of all vehicle policies purchased and then canceled within a given time period. One day, one week, two weeks. If a short sale of car insurance occurs, the state of Illinois should confiscate the license plates.
