Schaumburg parks salute 50 years of leadership, support

Schaumburg Park District Board of Commissioners recognized current and past Schaumburg park board commissioners, Schaumburg Park Foundation trustees and committee members for their outstanding service and contributions to the district during the past 50 years at the Thursday, Feb. 14, park board meeting at Schaumburg Golf Club, 401 N. Roselle Road.

Park board President Bob Schmidt led the introductions and presentations with help from park district Executive Director Tony LaFrenere. The meeting included speeches from Schaumburg Village President Al Larson and Jerry Handlon and Jean Schlinkmann, past executive directors of the park district.

A photo retrospective highlighted 50 years of park district successes during the presentations.

Schaumburg Park District park board meets at 8 p.m. the second Thursday of every month at the Jerry Handlon Administration Building. The district will honor an organization each month during its 50th anniversary. The next meeting on Thursday, March 14, will honor School District 54, District 211 and Harper College.
