Grocery store filling that old Rolling Meadows Dominick’s spot

Jurors to be selected in Wheaton murder trial

Jury selection begins today in the trial of a Wheaton man accused of stabbing his neighbor to death. Michael Delaney, 49, is accused of killing Michael Scalzo after a confrontation in June 2009. Delaney is expected to argue the killing was in self-defense. Full story.

Geneva alderman dies of cancer

Geneva 5th Ward Alderman Ralph Dantino, 56, lost his battle with cancer yesterday. Dantino, who previously served on the Geneva school board and the city’s plan commission, had cancer of the appendix that spread to the lining of his abdomen. Full story.

Antioch Rescue Squad contract extended

Antioch village officials extended the Antioch Rescue Squad’s contract last night with a warning that they expect more cooperation from the squad. Expectations include improved communications between the two entities, as well as more transparency in the squad’s financial matters and billing practices. Full story.

Four charged in Villa Park home invasion

Four men were arrested and charged yesterday with a home invasion and armed robbery that took place in Villa Park last week shortly after the victim had called for a female escort. A female suspect remains at large. Full story.

Missing Downers Grove man found dead

A Downers Grove man who had been missing since Feb. 6 was found dead in downstate Pope County, authorities said yesterday. William Foley was last seen leaving his IT job in Lombard. Police discovered Foley’s body Sunday in rural Pope County — about six hours from his home. Full story.

New York fugitives captured in Elk Grove Village

A former female teacher from western New York, who had been convicted of raping a student, and her female fugitive companion were captured in Elk Grove Village Saturday after local law enforcement collaborated with officers in Buffalo, New York, it was announced yesterday. Full story.
