Serving for numerous years. Also, involved in Youth cheer and Dance team in Bensenville/ Wood Dale.Elected offices held: I have served as a Park Commissioner for Wood Dale Park District for the past 18 months. I was appointed to the position after a former commissioner was elected to City Council in Wood Dale.Have you ever been arrested for or convicted of a crime? If yes, please explain: I have never been arrested or convicted of a crime.Candidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 The most important isssue that I see at this time, is making sure we have the best possible recreation availble to our residents, and maintaining it at affordable cost. Families are looking for affordable recreation, especially in this current economy.Key Issue 2 My goal is to help the Wood Dale Park District continue to have a wide variety of programs in all of the age groups that we serve. We strive to offer as many programs at various times as possible.Key Issue 3 As a taxpayer in the Wood Dale Park District I feel it is important to keep fiscally stable for not only today but, for the future. It is necessary to maintain a well balanced budget, as well as looking to improve and maintain our existing Parks and Recreation Facilites.Questions Answers What programs aren't paying for themselves? Would you keep, eliminate or change them? How and why?I can not single out the programs that do not pay for themselves. But, I am sure that is not a reason to cancel them. We need to access each program, paying for themselves is not a reason to gage the sucess of a program. We need to assess the need and assets it gives to the participants and the community.Is there any additional open space the park district needs to acquire? Please describe.At this time, there is no open space that I feel the Park District need to acquire. We are working to assure that all of the parks and space we currently have is used to it's full potential.Are there any unmet recreational needs? If yes, what are they and how would you propose paying for them? Or, should they wait until the economy improves?As a board we are always looking for new recreational programs to be added to those we currently have. We do our best to work them into our working budget.Would you support sharing/pooling resources (i.e. printing, vehicles) with other local governments (school districts, village, etc.)? If so, what areas would you consider combining or merging to save money or improve efficiency?We are always looking for ways to cooperate with other City districts to combine resources when possible. It is always a consideration. We combine with the school district for numerous events in our facilities as well as with the police department for National Night Out, which is held at our pool. I am in favor persuing community partnerships whenever possible.If you are a newcomer, what prompted you to run for the park board? If you're an incumbent, list your accomplishments or key initiatives in which you played a leadership role.As a relative newcomer to the Wood Dale Park District Board, I have learned so much in the past year and half that I have have served. I have tried to keep our fees down, tried to always consider the needs of the community and an open mind to new ideas. All while maintaining a balance in budget.
