How big a role do you think the board of education should play in setting the curriculum for students and what ideas do you have for changes to the current curriculum?I support common core standards, our children are our greatest natural resource and should meet and exceed educational expectations which are consistent. States which previously have a localized approach to education create variables in both achieving and reporting.Presently I am pleased with the curriculum in our Grade School, however I would be open to any suggestions for review.I would recommend and support life skill classes in our midlle School, After reviewing the success and failure of other school programs. An ongoing safety awareness module would also be recommended and supported for all classes. How satisfied are you that your district is preparing students for the next stage in their lives, whether it be from elementary into high school or high school into college or full-time employment? What changes, if any, do you think need to be made?I am satisfied with what other board members have shared with me regarding district 11 students academic success in high School What budget issues will your district have to confront and what measures do you support to address them? If you believe cuts are necessary, what programs and expenses should be reduced or eliminated? On the income side, do you support any tax increases?Budget issues The payroll and upcoming negotiationsMeasures to address them Look to generate new revenue.Necessary Cuts No future cutsTax Increases Only If determined necessary, I would like to see schools use the facility for other fundraising and community events after hours. As contract talks come up with various school employee groups, do you believe the district should ask for concessions from its employees, expect employee costs to stay about the same as they are now or provide increases in pay or benefits? With the state of the economy, I would expect them increase through a reasonable negotiated contract spread out over the duration of the contract. If your district had a superintendent or other administrator nearing retirement, would you support a substantial increase in his or her pay to help boost pension benefits? Why or why not?I would not support a boast in the pay thus raising the pension benefits.I believe that the present agreed pay to be acceptable, with agreed upon benefits.I find this practice to be unacceptable by my beliefs and standards.Possibly a paid for performance goal structure payroll should be reviewed with incentives in future agreements.
