Bowlers step up for Lutherbrook youth

Bowling is a great way for families and friends to spend time together. Bowlers at Addison's Stardust Bowl on February 9th and 10th made that time even more memorable. More than 260 supporters of Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois (LCFS) and Lutherbrook Child and Adolescent Center took to the lanes for the Lutherbrook Bowl-A-Rama, raising funds for improved on-campus recreational facilities, new recreational equipment and outside recreational programs for Lutherbrook youth.

A big thank you goes out to all who contributed to Bowl-A-Rama: bowlers, sponsors, donors, volunteers and staff. Thanks to their generosity, the preliminary fundraising total is $45,000, with the anticipation of more to come as outstanding pledges are collected and matching gifts are received.

Local congregations also provided their support, with large contingents from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillside, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elmhurst and Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park. They were also joined by other church groups, which, while not as large in number, were just as enthusiastic in their support of Lutherbrook: First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Chicago, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chicago (Grand Crossing) and Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Mount Prospect. Which church group will bring the most bowlers and raise the most funds in 2014? It's not too early to mark your calendar for the next Bowl-A-Rama (February 8-9, 2014), where you'll be able to witness that friendly competition and bowl a few games yourself.

There were also plenty of smiles thanks to dozens of raffle prizes for kids and adults, along with an even bigger smile on the face of Chris Thomas of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillside, who won the grand prize, a four-night trip with round-trip airfare for two.

Lutherbrook is a program of Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois (LCFS), a non-profit social ministry organization serving some 40,000 individuals annually with programs such as foster care, adoption, counseling, residential treatment and a variety of community services.
