Bail denied for hotel shooting suspect

A judge has denied bail for an Evanston man accused of shooting and injuring a fellow guest at a birthday party in Chicago’s historic Palmer House Hilton Hotel.

Cook County prosecutors say Brian Martel Miller and several others had been asked to leave the Jan. 20 party after complaints they were being too loud.

Miller is accused of returning a few minutes later with a revolver and shooting a man.

Assistant State’s Attorney Erin Antonietti says Miller was out on bond at the time for a separate weapons case.

Antonietti told the judge Thursday that no amount of bail could be high enough to keep the city safe from Miller.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Miller has been charged with aggravated battery and discharge of a firearm.
