Fast Facts: It’s a battle for the CSL South title between two teams that staged a 47-45 overtime game, won by Maine South, in their first meeting. Maine South is one of the suburbs’ hottest teams, winning its last 13 games overall. The Hawks’ nine-game winning streak to open the season was the program’s best start in 30 years. The streak included winning the Galesburg tournament and reaching the Elite Eight at the prestigious Proviso West tournament. Solari is a four-year letter winner for the Hawks and leads the team with 13.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Dounis, a three-year letter winner, is the team’s assist leader (3.3) and averages 10.3 points per game. The Trevians are also a hot squad, winning 10 straight including their last three against solid competition (Waukegan and Evanston on the road and St. Viator at home). Cook is the team’s leading scorer and rebounder and is off to Princeton next year. Berman has over 400 career assists and is headed to Amherst in the fall. Maine South is the No. 1 seed at the Class 4A Glenbrook North Sectional, while New Trier earned the No. 3 seed.

Quotable: “Maine South is the number one seed in our sectional and is playing very well,” New Trier coach Scott Fricke said. “They beat us in overtime in early January at their place. That was the last time we lost.”
