Bike overpass not Elk Grove’s job to do

Why is Elk Grove Village looking to spend our tax dollars to build a bicycle overpass at Route 53 and Higgins Road?

This is under the sole jurisdiction and responsibility of the Cook County Forest Preserve District. They have created this potential hazard and it is their responsibility to alleviate or eliminate the hazard.

They should take the various grants already allocated, and supplement the remaining from their budget.

The activities and all the recreational facilities located in the Busse Woods Forest Preserve are regional in scope and use, not just local. Why are we the lead agency in this matter when it is outside our area of jurisdiction?

If our current village administration has excess tax dollars available, wouldn’t it be more prudent to spend these dollars in a more efficient manner in Elk Grove Village, rather than what is now under consideration?
