Academy Bullets Swim Club breaks two state records

Over 360 Bullets took to the water at three different meets across the Fox Valley this past weekend.

Emily Ryan (12) led the way with two state records and six team records at the Arena Chicagoland Championships in St. Charles. Emily led off the 11-12 Girls 200 Medley Relay in :27.18, which was good enough to drop the 11-12 Girls 50 Backstroke state record by three tenths. Sammie Laurich (12), Camryn Streid (12), and Jen Hauser (12) brought the relay home for a total time of 1:52.16, crushing the state record by over two seconds!

Emily also broke the team record in the 50 Free (:24.87) while leading off the 11-12 Girls 200 Freestyle Relay to a team record 1:44.89. Joining her on the relay were Jen Hauser, Kelli Holt (12), and Kat Mueller (11).

In non-relay swims, Emily dropped her own team record in the 100 Freestyle (:53.56) by over a second, and took down the 100 Butterfly team record (:58.63) held by former World Record holder Mary Descenza. Emily also added her name to the Bullets roster for the 2013 NCSA Junior National Championships.

Will Kamps (12) put his name in the Academy Bullets record books nine times over the weekend. Will set individual team records in the 50 Freestyle (:24.76), 100 Freestyle (:53.02), 200 Freestyle (1:54.68), 50 Backstroke (:27.83), 100 Backstroke (:58.84), 100 IM (1:00.59), and 200 IM (2:09.57), and joined Ryan Sego (12), Danny Spatz (12), and Michael Rosa (11) on both the 200 Freestyle and 200 Medley Relays which broke team records in 1:44.90 and 1:55.51, respectively.

The Academy Bullets Swim Club swims at seven different pools throughout the Chicago area in the towns of Aurora, Bartlett, Riverside, Romeoville, and Streamwood. More information can be found online at www.academybullets.com.
