Sky signs head coach Pokey Chatman to multiyear contract

The Chicago Sky today announced the team has signed head coach and general manager Pokey Chatman to a multiyear contract extension.

The Sky also re-signed Christie Sides and Jeff House as assistant coaches.

“We are thrilled to announce a contract extension with one of the league’s finest and most dynamic coaches,” said Sky president and CEO Adam Fox. “We brought Pokey to Chicago two years ago because she has had both a track record of winning at every level and a passion for connecting with basketball fans of all ages. In the short time she’s been with our franchise, we have seen dramatic changes to the level of play and the popularity of the team. The ability to maintain continuity of our coaching staff bodes well for the 2013 season and beyond.”

Under Pokey’s leadership, the Sky finished the 2011 and 2012 seasons with identical records of 14-20, narrowly missing the playoffs in each case. Her 28 career wins is second most in Sky history.

Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.
