Gallery Theater sets audition dates for spring production

Gallery Theater of West Chicago has announced audition dates for its upcoming spring production of "Over the River and Through the Woods" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 and Thursday, Feb. 21. Callbacks, if necessary, will be on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 4 p.m.

"Over the River and Through the Woods," by Joe DiPietro, is an endearing comedy about Nick, a single, Italian-American guy from New Jersey who shares Sunday dinner each week with both sets of grandparents. When Nick intends to move to Seattle for his dream job as a marketing executive, the news does not sit well with his grandparents and they begin a series of schemes to keep Nick around. Frank, Aida, Nunzio and Emma do their level best and that includes a dinner invitation with the lovely – and single – Caitlin O'Hare as bait!

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and actors may present monologues, if prepared. Characters to be cast include:

• Two women who can play age 65 years and up

• Two men who can play age 65 years and up

• One man to play age 32-34 years

• One woman to play age 26-32 years

Auditions will take place at Gallery 200/STUDIO, 203 Turner Court, West Chicago. To reserve an audition time, email gallerytheater@gmail.com or call (630) 234-5919.

Gallery 200/STUDIO, the venue for Gallery Theater, is a cultural initiative supported by the City of West Chicago and the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission and is one more reason West Chicago was named an Illinois Arts Friendly Community in 2007.
