Many thanks for luminaria fundraiser

The Wheaton Chapter of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago wishes thank all those who supported its 43rd annual luminaria fundraiser this past December. The Infant Welfare Society provides health care to women and children in need and recently celebrated its 100th year.

The Wheaton chapter sells brown bags and candles that are lit on Christmas Eve through much of Wheaton and some surrounding communities. The spirit of the holiday was reflected by the following businesses, neighborhoods and individuals for the tremendous show of support:

Kyle Buikema, the entire Buikema family and their Buikema’s Ace Hardware Stores for allowing us to sell our Luminaria sets and our gift sets in their Wheaton and Naperville locations: Pat Zurek, manager of the Danada store, Dick Holterhaus, manager of the north Wheaton store, and Janet Castlemon, manager of the Naperville store, as well as the staff of both stores; Tom Saylor of Winfield Fuel & Material who has donated and delivered the sand for the past 30 years. Greg and Connie Weimer at minuteman Press for all the printing of tags, stickers and coupons; Kohl’s Department Stores and their staffs for their help with the inventory preparation and their generous donations; the Arrowhead neighborhood, especially our new hosts Dan and Honey Swinford, and other Arrowhead families Scott Harris, Joe Carbonaro, Jeff Kincaid, and Bob Greene are only some of the neighbors that have helped with our sales for more than 20 years. Also, the Virgilio family, who for another year lit up the steps of Wheaton City Hall with Luminaria on Christmas Eve.
