Naperville car wash heavily damaged by blaze

A BP car wash in Naperville sustained about $300,000 worth of damages following a fire there Friday night, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 7:30 p.m. in the car wash next to the gas station at 1983 Brookdale Road. The building was “heavily involved in flames” when firefighting units arrived on scene, but it only took 10 minutes to extinguish it, according to a Naperville Fire Department news release.

The damage to the building was “extensive,” and an inspector from Naperville’s Transportation, Engineering and Development department was going to be examining the structural integrity of the building, authorities said.

The cause and origin of the fire was unknown but remained under investigation.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury.
