The NRA has a membership of about 4 million people. The U.S. population is 310 million. Why does this insignificant (less that 2 percent of the population) number of people hold such sway over our lives?
Apparently it's because they donate millions of dollars to campaigns.
Where does this money come from? The answer: gun manufacturers.
That's who run the NRA. So, of course their self-interest is to sell guns, not reduce gun violence.
I suggest that all candidates return/not accept any money from the NRA and then use that fact in their campaign. I am willing to bet a huge number of people would vote for a candidate because he did not accept money from the NRA.
I know I would.
